Durst’s P5 350/HS hybrid large-format printer

Posterlounge GmbH has modernised its fine art print shop and invested in Durst’s P5 350/HS hybrid large-format printer. With this new system, the Leipzig-based company aims to boost efficiency and flexibility.

The P5 350/HS combines roll-to-roll and sheet-fed printing, enabling end-to-end production of a wide variety of printed products, ranging from posters, canvases, wall murals and wallpaper to acrylic glass, rigid foam and aluminium composite panels. The hybrid design reduces downtime and simplifies production planning. According to the manufacturer, the system achieves a maximum productivity of up to 710 square metres per hour with a print width of up to 3.5 metres.

“This investment in new printing technology has significantly streamlined our production processes,” explains Philipp Dietrich, Head of Production at Posterlounge. “Combining web and sheet-fed printing in a hybrid press reduces changeover times, enabling us to ensure maximum machine utilisation and cope with order peaks more flexibly.”

Energy efficiency thanks to the hybrid solution

The P5 350/HS enables a significant increase in production speed. The UV-LED technology is energy-efficient and ensures consistent quality even at high utilisation rates. The printer’s versatility has also made it possible to reduce the total number of printing presses, a step towards greater energy and cost efficiency.

“By switching to the Durst P5 350/HS, we have combined two systems into a high-performance hybrid solution,” says Falk Teßmer, one of the managing directors and co-founders of Posterlounge. “It combines the strengths of roll-to-roll and sheet-fed printing and offers us maximum flexibility – whilst delivering higher speeds and significantly lower printing costs.”

Since then, Posterlounge has been synonymous with high-quality wall art and produces photographs and illustrations on modern substrates in its in-house art print shop. With an online shop and art publishing arm, Posterlounge offers an additional sales channel. The company is run as a family business.
