The fourth edition of the Industrial Print Integration (IPI) Conference, organised by the European Specialist Printing Manufacturers Association (ESMA), offered in-depth insights. With 59 presentations in three subject areas and an exhibition with 56 table stands, IPI confirmed its role as an important meeting place for the industrial, functional and specialised printing industry.
The event began with Waveform training on practical optimisation techniques, which generated keen interest among many participants. Jacob Ørum from LEGO described IPI as a place where ‘the current and the future’ are revealed. There was a lively exchange between major suppliers, start-ups and research laboratories. ‘A seamless blend of technical discussions and networking,’ remarked Samuel Machi from AGC Automotive, describing the format as ‘specifically designed for collaboration.’
Gianmarco Zaccarini from GRAF Industries described his visit as ‘a complete immersion in horizon-broadening presentations,’ while Duncan Ross from AVA CAD CAM praised the event as ‘entertaining, informative and good for networking.’ Pradeep Koyadan from AT Inks summed up the consensus by saying that IPI is ‘the place where innovation meets technical excellence’.
The programme reflected the breadth of an industry in transition. High-viscosity jetting, advanced waveform design, printed electronics, multi-material deposition and sustainability in ink and substrate development attracted keen interest. Speakers drew connections between technical advances and real-world manufacturing requirements.
Outlook
The next IPI conference will take place from 24 to 25 November 2026 in Düsseldorf-Neuss, while IPI-X, the Inkjet Print Innovations Expo, the first trade fair for industrial inkjet printing, will take place from 16 to 18 November 2027 in Essen.
ESMA
ESMA has been active in the industrial printing sector since 1990 and has developed from a European association for screen and digital printing manufacturers into an organisation representing industrial, functional and speciality printing. Over the years, ESMA has developed the concept of the Knowledge Hub, which today provides cross-technology expertise to nearly 70 European manufacturer members and technology partners.
