Sun Chemical has announced the launch of a new solvent-free SunLam adhesive with extremely low monomer content (ULM). Developed for packaging manufacturers looking for high-performance applications that offer a sustainable alternative to existing solvent-based adhesives.
The adhesive, officially designated SunLam QA-8000+HA450, is part of Sun Chemical’s proprietary ULM technology. The adhesive is designed to meet the requirements of flexible packaging manufacturers producing high-end applications such as extended cook pasteurisation, hot filling, low retort packaging and products requiring chemical resistance in acidic or alcoholic environments.
The new product has been developed for high-performance applications and contributes to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Thanks to its VOC-free formulation, no drying requirements are necessary for a laminator. It supports weight reduction and facilitates the mechanical recyclability of packaging through a lower coating weight compared to solvent-based technology.
Nicolas Bétin, Director of Product Strategy EMEA, Packaging Inks & Materials, comments: “We are delighted to introduce SunLam QA-8000+HA450, which offers packaging manufacturers an energy-efficient alternative that meets the performance characteristics required for high-quality packaging. This product underscores our commitment to offering our customers a portfolio that balances efficiency and safety with sustainability requirements. At Sun Chemical, we are proud to offer a range of fully PU and solvent-free technologies for adhesive and printing ink solutions.”
