In the printing industry, digital printing machines have become an integral part of production processes. In addition to investing in stand-alone digital presses, there is an opportunity to capitalise on highly productive digital printing with the integration of digital imprinting systems that can match conventional machines in terms of quality and print speed.
With more than five decades of experience in the development and manufacture of inkjet printheads, Kodak’s portfolio includes the PROSPER Plus and PROSPER S imprinting systems. PROSPER printheads deliver high speeds and the print quality required for integration with offset, flexo and gravure presses as well as print finishing and packaging converting machines. The printheads use KODAK Stream Inkjet technology, which enables high speeds and colour coverage with precise, round droplet placement, even on glossy substrates.
Flexible expansion of the print width
Up to twelve PROSPER printheads can be configured in width. Depending on the configuration, systems can include up to 12 print stations and 24 print heads and can be easily integrated with Kodak or third-party mounting solutions. The new KODAK PROSPER Print Bar enables precise inkjet printing with print widths that are scalable in 105mm increments using multiple PROSPER printheads. In addition, the Smart Stitch functionality helps to ensure consistently high print quality.
Inks and primers matched to the print heads
PROSPER imprint systems use water-based KODAK EKTACOLOR pigment and dye-based inks, which dry quickly due to their chemical composition. A further advantage lies in the pigment micromilling process, which generates extremely fine pigment particles with a narrow size distribution, making the inks easier to print using the inkjet process. Energy-efficient near-infrared inline drying technology is used to dry the inks.
Complete digital printing solutions
KODAK PROSPER Imprinting Systems consist of printheads, controllers for data and liquid media, EKTACOLOR inks and special OPTIMAX primers. ‘PROSPER imprinting systems offer versatile, highly efficient solutions that establish digital printing in various application fields and market segments without compromising the productivity of the machines on which they are installed. And our new KODAK PROSPER Print Bar takes seamless print output and automatic colour registration in hybrid colour printing to a new level,’ explains Randy Vandagriff, Senior Vice President, Digital Print, Kodak. ‘By providing the entire solution, including printheads, controllers, inks, primers and integration solutions, from a single source, our customers can be confident that we can support them quickly and reliably as they face new business challenges.’
Kodak
The US company can look back on a long tradition in printing and publishing. The company first sold materials for the printing industry as early as 1912 and in 1929 launched high-contrast KODALITH materials, which made it easier to prepare halftones for printing. Today, KODAK is a global technology company focused on printing and advanced materials & chemicals. KODAK provides industry-leading hardware, software, consumables and services to customers in the commercial, packaging, publishing, manufacturing and entertainment printing industries.
