Digital printing is experiencing dynamic growth in the commercial and publishing sectors. Technological advances have made it possible to use digital printing to achieve high productivity and cost-effectiveness with a quality that is virtually indistinguishable from that of conventional printing processes for customers.
The PROSPER 7000 Turbo, which Kodak claims is the world’s fastest inkjet press, offers flexibility for high-quality applications. In addition to the Turbo printing mode for low ink coverage, it features Performance and Quality modes, which allow the balance between speed and resolution to be adjusted for each project. John Place, CEO of Mercury Print Productions in Rochester, USA, is enthusiastic: ‘The PROSPER 7000 Turbo stands out for its exceptional speed, which allows us to take on jobs with higher print runs. Thanks to this high productivity, we can meet the growing demands of customers for shorter lead times and on-demand production.’
Thanks to their robust construction, PROSPER printing presses combine productivity and output quality with durability. For print heads that show signs of wear over time, Kodak offers refurbishment as a sustainable alternative to brand new print heads.
KODAK PROSPER printing presses use continuous inkjet technology.
The advantages of CIJ lie in the technology’s control over the placement of ink droplets and the uniformity of the printed dots. CIJ printheads produce a consistent stream of ink droplets by landing the printing droplets on the substrate while deflecting non-printing droplets and returning them for reuse. This droplet generation prevents clogged inkjet nozzle modules. In addition, CIJ droplets reach the substrate faster than droplets generated with drop-on-demand (DOD) technology.
Kodak offers only one CMYK ink set for each CIJ technology. EKTACOLOR inks are used in Stream Inkjet technology, while KODACHROME inks are designed for systems with ULTRASTREAM technology. Kodak also uses its own micro-grinding technology in the production of water-based nanoparticle pigment inks, which enables printing presses to achieve a wider colour gamut than in offset printing.
