METPACK 2026: ACTEGA presents
solutions for metal packaging

ACTEGA, a manufacturer of speciality coatings, printing inks, adhesives, sealants and compounds for the printing and packaging industry, will be exhibiting at METPACK 2026 in Essen from 5 to 8 May. Visitors can find the company in Hall 3 at Stand 3C55.

Highlights such as ACTNext® and ACTEcoat® coatings, innovations such as the water-based ARTISTICA sealants for beverage cans, and industry firsts, including PVC- and plasticiser-free PROVALIN® compounds and INNOCAN® digital printing technology with offset quality. Jörg Mahn, Head of Metal Packaging Solutions at ACTEGA, explains: “Alongside many other product examples, these solutions are among the absolute highlights of METPACK. They are based on ACTEGA’s in-depth technical expertise and on close, consultancy-oriented collaboration with our partners.”

Sustainability and efficiency

Another key feature of the exhibition stand is the ACTNext® range of UV and UV/LED-curing coatings. For general-purpose cans, aerosol cans, drums, closures and the exterior coating of food cans, this portfolio eliminates the need for energy-intensive drying ovens and reduces both the carbon footprint and VOC emissions.

The patented PROVALIN® compound portfolio for metal vacuum closures is PVC- and plasticiser-free. PROVALIN® has been developed for various types of closures and is suitable for food-grade applications. PROVALIN® can be combined with the ACTEcoat® and ACTEbond® internal coatings, thereby simplifying supply chains.

ACTEGA’s BPA-NI and PFAS-NI coatings for crown caps and aluminium caps meet the requirements of EU Regulation 2024/3190 and mark a shift away from BPA-based coatings. Furthermore, SVELON® 835 ULG enables the production of crown caps with reduced material thickness.

Beverage and food cans

Another example of sustainable innovation is the water-based ARTISTICA sealants for beverage cans. Manufactured using renewable raw materials and free from VOCs, the portfolio includes ARTISTICA RB1006 Z3, which enables material savings of up to 20 per cent for two-piece beverage cans.

Visitors can also find out about ROTARflow, a technology for controlling and monitoring the application volume of water-based sealants. The digital system can reduce manual checks, enable tighter specifications and minimise waste.

INNOCAN® technology, developed in partnership with HP Indigo and Vislo, makes cost-effective short to medium runs possible by enabling offset-quality digital printing on metal.

José Trigo, Head of Global Market Management at ACTEGA, comments: “For years, short runs and a high degree of customisation were considered the Achilles’ heel of metal packaging. INNOCAN® fundamentally breaks this paradigm. By enabling digital printing in true offset quality, we are equipping can manufacturers with the tools they need.”
