Print Equipment, a European provider of customised printing solutions, is presenting its sustainability strategy in a new video series. Under the title ‘Sustainability in focus’, founder and Managing Director Mario Panter provides insights into the extensive measures that the company has been taking for years to work in a resource-saving manner and with a minimised CO2 footprint.
Sustainable technologies
The first episode of the video series provides an insight into the company’s sustainable administration building. A water-to-water heat pump utilises groundwater for climate-friendly heating and cooling. The intelligent control system regulates lighting, blinds and temperature and rainwater seeps away on site so as not to pollute the sewage system.
Photovoltaic systems
The installed photovoltaic systems produce around 1.1 million kilowatt hours per year, three to four times the company’s own requirements. This means that the company is 90% energy self-sufficient and can feed surplus energy into the grid. A battery storage system with a capacity of 200 kWh enables the energy to be utilised efficiently even at times of low solar radiation.
Logistics and packaging
In the logistics sector, Print Equipment relies on sustainable materials and innovative construction concepts. The supporting structures of the warehouses are made of wood and allow large spans without supports, which is important for the sliding racking systems used. Print Equipment also favours sustainability when it comes to packaging. EPS foam boards have been replaced by recyclable cardboard boards, which saves 60 cubic metres of polystyrene every year. In addition, local waste paper is used as filling material, which saves around 8 tonnes of paper per year.
Electric fleet
In 2018, Print Equipment began converting its field service and technician vehicles to electric mobility. The vehicles cover around 1 million kilometres a year, saving 60,000 litres of diesel and 120,000 litres of crude oil. The majority of the charging current is produced by the company’s own photovoltaic systems. 10 wallboxes with 20 charging points at the Ottersweier site and others at field staff locations ensure that the e-cars can be easily integrated into everyday working life.
Print Equipment
Print Equipment sees itself as a system house for customised printing technologies. As Europe’s leading wholesaler of sublimation products and equipment for transfer and digital direct printing, Print Equipment offers a wide range of different printing technologies. Founded in 1997, the company is headquartered in Ottersweier, Baden. Around 100 employees look after international customers and five German showrooms provide interested trade visitors with detailed insights into the world of customised printing technologies.
