Consortium for Waste Circularity
Miraclon becomes a member

Miraclon has joined the Consortium for Waste Circularity, the association promoting the circular economy of waste in the printing and packaging industry, as part of its current environmental, social and governance programme. Dr John Anderson, Head of Advanced Application Development at Miraclon, will take an active role in the CWC.

‘We are taking a holistic approach to how Miraclon can influence sustainability. In addition to analysing the life cycle of our products and their manufacturing processes, we also consider the impact of our technologies and services on the entire packaging printing value chain,’ explains Emma Weston, Chief Marketing Officer at Miraclon. ‘In doing so, we focus on the big, significant effects and how we can make a concrete difference. As a member of the CWC, we can take this even further.’

The Consortium for Waste Circularity (CWC) is made up of brand owners, printers, material and machine manufacturers. It is working to transform the waste industry with the aim of converting all municipal solid waste sent to landfill into new raw materials or fuels for reuse. The consortium contributes to research and development, outreach and education to advance recycling.

‘The CWC has identified a proven waste recycling process that keeps waste out of landfill, and I look forward to helping to further develop these opportunities,’ said Dr John Anderson. ‘Miraclon aims to support the global packaging value chain and help brand owners, printers and prepress companies achieve their sustainability goals.’

Michael Ferrari, Chairman of the CWC, summarises: ‘As a sponsor, Miraclon’s expertise in packaging development and flexo printing will help the CWC to expand the possibilities with its technology. Flexo printing and the printing plates used for printing on sustainable substrates will continue to play an important role in the development of more sustainable packaging in the future.’
