The Customer Experience Centre for the VariJET 106 in Radebeul, a hybrid printing press for folding cartons developed jointly by Durst and Koenig & Bauer, offers the opportunity to test digital, offset and finishing processes.
Interested trade visitors can use their own print files and substrates to find out about the flexibility, sustainability and diverse possibilities of the modular VariJET 106 single-pass printing press. The 700 square metre hall is part of the Customer Experience Centre at the headquarters of Koenig & Bauer’s Sheetfed business unit near Dresden.
‘The hall for the VariJET 106 digital hybrid press for the folding carton market represents another important milestone in our development,’ said Daniel Velema, managing director of Koenig & Bauer Durst. “With the Customer Experience Centre, we offer a unique location where digital, offset and post-press production can be seen and tested. Here, interested parties from all over the world can test the VariJET 106 with their own files and substrates. This ability to advise them on all areas of printing and finishing technologies is driven by our ambition to understand your business needs and opportunities first and foremost, and to find the right technology solution second.”
Daniel Velema explains: “With the VariJET 106 Customer Experience Centre, Koenig & Bauer Durst conducts ongoing print tests with customers and brands from all major regions: North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. We are particularly pleased to see interest from Asian customers travelling to Germany. Successfully tested applications include cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, healthcare products and food. We are working closely together and exploring practical ways in which Koenig & Bauer Durst can improve to better meet market requirements.”
The VariJET 106 processes and combines digital inkjet and classic offset printing. It uses water-based inkjet inks (CMYK plus orange, green and violet), primers and coatings to provide the highest print quality and fulfil food safety and sustainability regulations. It uses the standard high-performance Rapida 106 platform from Koenig & Bauer as well as printhead electronics, inkjet expertise and workflow and RIP technology from Durst.
