The jury of the prestigious EDP Awards has honoured two swissQprint products. The awards ceremony took place during the Fespa Global Print Expo in Berlin. The winners are the 5th generation Nyala flatbed printer and pyramid printing, which enables colour change effects in an image.
Nyala 5
In the ‘Large & Wide Format Printing’ category, the swissQprint flagship Nyala was named ‘Best Flatbed/Hybrid’. swissQprint launched the fifth generation of the flatbed printer in January this year, with a new mechanical base for greater stability and precision, increased productivity and ten colour channels. The jury described the printer as unique in its speed class because it offers a roll option and can print on roll materials as well as rigid media. The Nyala model has been available since 2012 and has already been honoured with the EDP Award four times.
Pyramid printing
The core of the ‘Pyramid printing’ award winner as ‘Best Digital Embellishment Wide-Format’ is its high precision and, depending on the viewing angle, fascinating colour changes are possible in an image. Expertise and high printing accuracy are required for the implementation. The jury emphasised: “In contrast to lenticular effects, which require expensive substrates, pyramid printing can be applied to any flat material. It is a valuable addition for users of the swissQprint brand.”
