In an online event on 20 November 2024, the German Printing and Media Industries Federation (BVDM), together with the German Sustainability Code (DNK) and the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH), will provide information on sustainability reporting in 2025. The reason for this is the massive expansion of the group of companies that will have to prepare a sustainability report from the 2025 financial year or are likely to be asked by their customers to submit sustainability declarations. The event will provide an overview of the legal requirements and what support companies can receive for sustainability reporting.
The EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the EU Taxonomy Regulation will require around 15,000 German companies to prepare annual sustainability reports for the previous financial year from 2026. Currently, only around 500 companies are required to prepare a sustainability report. As companies subject to the reporting obligation must provide information on their supply chain in their sustainability reports, it can be assumed that from 2025, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are not themselves affected by the reporting obligation, will increasingly be asked by their customers to provide statements on sustainability (including their supply chains).
In addition, new aspects have been added to the existing reporting. The CSRD requires companies to report more comprehensively and in accordance with uniform standards in future. Greater quantification of the report content using key figures is also intended to increase the measurability and comparability of the information.
The online event infoKompakt ‘Sustainability Reporting 2025’ is aimed at companies that are required to report and those that are not. The speakers will explain legal requirements and standards for mandatory and voluntary reporting. In addition, participants will gain an initial insight into the future interactive web platform of the German Sustainability Code (DNK), which will be available from January 2025 as a free tool for CSRD-compliant sustainability reporting.
The infoKompakt ‘Sustainability Reporting 2025’ will take place on 20 November 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Programme and possibility to register at
