Two new EU directives are intended to prevent greenwashing and protect consumers from false environmental claims about products and services. In an online information event, the German Printing and Media Industries Federation (BVDM) will provide information on the current status of regulation and the practical requirements that may arise in the future, particularly for advertising with environmental claims.
On 24 June 2024, the BVDM invites you to the online information event infoKompakt ‘Green Claims – Advertising correctly with environmental claims’ from 2 pm to 4 pm. Together with a legal expert from the Wettbewerbszentrale, the BVDM will present the guidelines and show how print and media companies can advertise with environmental claims in the future.
The speaker, Alexander Strobel, lawyer (in-house lawyer) at the Wettbewerbszentrale – Zentrale zur Bekämpfung unlauteren Wettbewerbs, will provide an overview of the current status of competition law and case law relating to so-called green claims. In addition, he will discuss the expected legal changes that advertisers will face with the two European directives on environmental advertising.
BVDM speakers Anna Lutz and Julia Rohmann will provide an overview of the consequences and challenges associated with the guidelines. In particular, they will provide an outlook for corporate practice, which claims and seals will probably still be permitted under the new regulation and what credible sustainability communication in the graphic arts industry should be prepared for.
Participation in the online event infoKompakt ‘Green Claims – Advertising correctly with environmental claims’ is free of charge for members of the print and media associations. Non-members will be charged a fee of 120 euros plus VAT.
