‘If we learn more about materials, processes and production techniques, we can achieve better results and work more sustainably,’ says Miguel Avellaneda from Giesecke + Devrient, explaining his participation in the Fogra Web Academy. Founded in 2020, the Web Academy is the online counterpart to the traditional training courses that participants can attend on site in Munich-Aschheim.
‘This is invaluable, up-to-date knowledge for anyone who is serious and wants to know more,’ says Axel Robert from Ubisoft. The transfer of knowledge into practice is one of Fogra’s aims. Training beginners and experts with knowledge from research has therefore always been an important task of the Research Institute for Media Technology. The offline and online training courses break down the printing process into easily digestible bites, filled with the latest research findings and practical knowledge.
The concept of the Fogra Web Academy is to provide participants with a broad knowledge of the entire printing process. The live training courses go into depth and enable practical exercises on site. The spectrum of topics ranges from pre-press and colour management to substrates (e.g. ink, paper, films), printing processes and finishing. The focus is on learning the basics, background information and practical tips. ‘Knowledge of new materials, processes and regulations helps us to master the future. Standardisation and finding a common language are prerequisites for success in order to achieve good communication with customers,’ emphasises Miguel Avellaneda.
The training programme is aimed at all companies and individuals working in the printing industry, such as print shops, machine manufacturers and suppliers. All employees can benefit from an increase in knowledge and a better insight into the industry.
The training courses on colour management, printing, artificial intelligence and finishing start on 10 September 2024. Information and registration options at fogra.org/events/web-academy/fogra-academy
