The recently founded company CoCoCo and Impressed have entered into a partnership at drupa. The aim is to harmonise CoCoCo’s integration technology with the Impressed Workflow Server, which is integrated with many input and output systems in print production.
In automated environments, jobs pass through production with as little human intervention as possible. The prerequisite for automation is the integration of software applications and machines that can exchange data, for example to transmit the process status and initiate the next steps.
CoCoCo connects
This involves the exchange of order and production data between software and machines. Integration is realised via the CoCore platform and the two products CoConnect and CoCollab, which are based on it.
IWS between input and output systems
The Impressed Workflow Server automates the PDF workflow in prepress and postpress. It connects MIS applications, web shops and print broker platforms with output systems such as workflow solutions, RIPs and printing and finishing machines. IWS can also automatically correct incorrect settings in print files based on the job data specifications.
Integration Andreas Aplien, co-founder of CoCoCo with Karl Ciz and John Maxwell, says: ‘The Impressed Workflow Server already supports a very wide range of applications and machines. Therefore, the integration with IWS is a big leap forward for us. On the other hand, IWS will be able to utilise the integrations we develop in the future. For example, we already have integrations with Muller Martini, Prinect, Horizon and Hunkeler. At drupa, we were able to present our integration with MBO Postpress Solutions. We are clearly focussing on the transfer of job and production data between applications and machines. This creates a centralised data pool that IWS can also build on. Regardless of how many systems we support – IWS then only has to deal with one channel, our CoCore platform.“
Process automation
Florian Käsbauer, who manages the Impressed business together with Bernd Remus, emphasises the importance of integrated processes in order management and production: ‘For many print shops, the term “integration” is still a spectre – they fear and shy away from the time and financial outlay involved. At the same time, however, the days of ‘egg-laying woolly milk sows’ are finally over in the software sector. Today, the aim is to use the optimum solution for every purpose, which makes integration with other applications and machines unavoidable. CoCoCo and we take on this task for print shops. The focus is always on automating processes in the customer’s existing environment.”
CoCoCo
Under the motto ‘Connect, Combine and Collaborate’, the London-based company CoCoCo is committed to advancing connectivity in the printing industry. The focus here is on connecting machines and software and combining data.
