Schreiner MediPharm has developed a reliable blinding solution for vials. The self-adhesive foil labels are simultaneously coloured and semi-transparent, making it impossible to distinguish between different liquids of verum and placebo, while the fill level of the vials can still be read.
In clinical trials, it is important to safely blind the test preparations so that the test subjects cannot distinguish between verum and placebo. This allows valid results to be obtained on the efficacy of the drug being tested. In the case of transparent containers such as vials, this poses particular challenges for a blinding solution, as their contents must be neutralised in terms of colour while remaining visible.
Schreiner MediPharm has developed a coloured foil label for vials filled with a liquid active ingredient. The special blinding solution consists of a self-adhesive label with a semi-transparent yellow colour. In this way, different liquids filled in vials can no longer be distinguished from one another. At the same time, the label is transparent enough to recognise the fill level of the liquid it contains. The solution from Schreiner MediPharm therefore ensures efficient and flexible blinding of the test preparations and helps to optimise the processes within the clinical trial.
The blinding label was developed by Schreiner MediPharm in collaboration with WuXi STA, a global company active in contract research, development and production. Among other things, the company offers clinical supply services for clinical trials and has been manufacturing investigational medicinal products since 2008. The blinding solution from Schreiner MediPharm and WuXi STA was developed for the vials – and complies with international regulations for clinical trials.
