Hessian textile machinery company Karl Mayer has launched an updated version of its state-of-the-art HKS 3-M ON warp knitting machine. The machine has been further developed and improved to meet the new requirements of the textile industry. The focus is on digital solutions for patterning and product management, as well as mechanical optimizations.
The HKS 3-M ON jersey machine represents a new generation of digital knitting machines in the Karl Mayer range. The new version, launched at ITMA 2023, combines high performance with cutting-edge technologies that focus particularly on profitability, sustainability, rapid adaptation to market dynamics and new business opportunities in times of labor shortages. With the upgrade, a number of prototypes were introduced that offer additional benefits. These include a metering device for optimized sequential operation without loss of speed and an energy data monitoring system.
Partnership and sustainable innovations
The enhanced HKS 3-M ON, a fast 3-bar warp knitting machine with electronic pattern drive, features the innovative Advanced Feeding Control (AFC) system. The cloud-networked AFC ensures maximum machine performance in the production of complex patterns, even with fluctuating yarn consumption.
In addition to speed, Karl Mayer Group is also addressing energy consumption. The newly introduced Energy Data Ready option offers the possibility to monitor and track the power consumption of warp knitting machines to promote energy-efficient production processes. This feature identifies increased consumption indicators that may indicate machine wear, allowing for timely maintenance or repair. The HKS 3-M ON is equipped with an economical direct drive that requires significantly less energy compared to standard drive systems and can thus save up to 8 % electricity.
To further simplify the handling of the machine, the company has introduced a new adjustment procedure for precise lowering manipulation. The No. 55 X metering unit was also introduced at ITMA 2023. This new device enables rolling, weighing of the product and documentation in a single operation, eliminating the traditional time and effort required.
