UV printing is multifaceted and affects a wide range of areas, be it special printing inks, radiation curing or various printing processes such as UV inkjet or screen printing. This variety of topics is one of the reasons why participants appreciate the biennial user forum organised by the Fogra Research Institute. On 5 and 6 November, experts will be discussing the broad spectrum of UV printing for the 13th time.
The aim is to familiarise participants with the latest developments. ‘The UV Printing User Forum impressed me with its wide range of topics and the interesting presentations and discussions, and helped me to advance professionally,’ confirms Dr Katja Klump from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen. In 18 presentations and a keynote speech, the speakers looked beyond the boundaries of classic UV printing and dealt with UV in inkjet and 3D screen printing or explained how ink adhesion can be optimised on non-absorbent substrates. There is also an ecological view of UV technology. Deinkability and food contact materials will be discussed.
The keynote will be dedicated to the Green Deal. Test strips, elastomer materials and oligomers in UV inks will be used to delve deep into the subject of consumables. The Schaffrath printing company will report on the switch from heatset to UV. And the fact that radiation curing can also work in a different way is highlighted under the aspects of electron beam curing (ESH) printing inks and initiator-free UV curing. ‘I particularly liked the fact that the topic of UV printing was explored from so many different perspectives,’ confirms Jörg Matthes from Continental Surface Solutions. Thomas Müller, DC DruckChemie, emphasises that the presentations also serve as a networking opportunity: ‘I have been a regular guest at the UV User Forum for over 20 years. I always look forward to catching up with old acquaintances and meeting new colleagues.’
